Борилачки спортови: оштећење зглобова током вежбања. Шта и како их избећи?

Martial arts are contact sports, where injuries, especially joint damage, are extremely common. A properly conducted warm-up and properly conducted further training, however, can help limit any injuries. But how to avoid it? Which combat sports are the most dangerous?

Knee joints and exercises in the gym

Knee joints are exposed to injuries and damage, especially when running for a long time on a hard surface. During martial arts exercises, the warm-up is usually carried out in the hall or gym. Participants very often run around the room warming up their muscles – this is the first moment when joints are exposed to damage. There is only one solution – the warm-up must be conducted by a coach or a very experienced competitor, it should never be done by a novice. Thanks to this, the knee joints will be properly warmed up before the long run takes place.

Joint damage during sparring

Damage to the joints during the fight attempt itself usually occurs when you fight an inexperienced opponent, an amateur of martial arts. Such an opponent, although he may have the right strength, unfortunately, usually lands his blows incorrectly. This can end up with an injury not only to himself, but also to his exercise partner. A professional trainer knows exactly how to pair up players, or how to help them pair up, so that no one is hurt when sparring with another.

Damage to the joints of the hands and others

The most dangerous combat sports, among which damage to the joints of the hand can occur, are those in which the hands are used to inflict very strong blows that break even entire blocks of bricks. Such a form of martial art is Karate or Kung-Fu.

Other martial arts, such as Taekwondo, focus on footwork. In this case, exercises or tasks involving the destruction of objects (e.g. boards) are also performed by performing appropriate kicks. This, in turn, can damage many joints of the lower limbs, starting from the ankle joint (commonly leading to ankle sprain).

How to take care of yourself during training?

  • Always listen to the recommendations of a qualified trainer and senior “belt” colleagues;
  • Always perform all warm-up exercises thoroughly, which significantly reduces the possibility of any injury;
  • Never practice beyond your capabilities, and choose the amount of exercises and their difficulty to your own abilities and skills at a given time.
