In the event of bleeding, it is important to react quickly and perform simple actions while calling for help. Faced with a small bleeding in the skin for example, the hemorrhage does not generally require special medical care. The wound can be simply cleaned with cold water and then with soap. If the wound is not in contact with clothing or on an area that can easily get dirty, it is worth leaving it in the open so that it heals more quickly.

The dressing should not be removed because this gesture risks re-bleeding the wound which has just started to close.

If the bleeding is even more severe, the sufferer should lie down and, to stop the bleeding, a compression point (or a tourniquet in case of failure of the compression dressing) must be performed upstream of the wound while awaiting the arrival of help. The tourniquet is used as a last resort and it is best if it is put on by a professional.

It is necessary to check that the wound does not contain страна тела. They will in all cases be removed by a professional as soon as they are located deep in the wound.

From a purely medical point of view, a whole blood transfusion may be necessary if the blood loss has been significant. A transfusion of platelets or other coagulation factors may also be necessary. The vessel responsible for internal bleeding can be sutured. Stitches may be needed to close a wound.

A drain can also be useful for cleaning a wound. If the wound is very deep, surgery to treat the muscles or tendons is imperative.

For internal bleeding, the management is obviously much more complex and depends on the area of ​​the body affected. The emergency services or a doctor must be called.

A medical team should ultimately be contacted if the bleeding is not under control or when stitches are needed. If an infection develops as a result of bleeding from a wound, a doctor should also be consulted.

Treating a bleeding can be risky since diseases can be transmitted through the blood (HIV, viral hepatitis). Great care is therefore needed when first aid is to be applied to a person suffering from external bleeding.
