The development of various roles occurs gradually, starting from the first years of a child’s life.
The condition for mastering a new role is the formation of the skills and abilities necessary for it. The role is given to someone who has the necessary data for this — the necessary skills or status, or who takes this role himself, showing interest in it or insisting on this role.
In childhood, there is also the development of interpersonal roles that characterize the position of a person in the system of communication with other people. Different models of education — free education, disciplinary education — provide different opportunities for the development of the child.
Assimilation of the role of a parent by a child
In the child’s assimilation of the role of a parent, the example of his own parents has a decisive influence on this process.
The predominance of negative aspects in family education or the lack of an adequate model (as is the case in incomplete families) leads to the fact that a person either rejects the perceived example, but does not have the opportunity to master a different version of this role, or simply is deprived of the basis for the formation of appropriate forms of behavior.
The role of authoritarian education is controversial. Usually, in conditions of authoritarian upbringing, a child more often gets used to dependence, lack of independence, submissiveness, which subsequently does not allow him to take the role of a leader and prevents the formation of initiative, purposeful behavior.
