• Collibia (Gymnopus) water-loving (Gymnopus aquosus) – This mushroom is lighter, does not have a narrow light stripe along the edge, has a much stronger, sharp, bulbous thickening at the bottom of the stem (uniquely identifying this species) and pinkish or ocher-colored rhizomorphs (not white) .
• (Gymnopus alpinus) – differs only in microscopic features, large spore size and shape of cheilocystids.
